American cars certainly aren’t to everyone’s taste but this Ford Thunderbird certainly looks to be a bit of a bargain. It’s not a well loved example and the interior is mangled (though that means you could change the colour to something a little more tasteful). It’s currently bid up to just £3,900 which is under half of a normal example and bear in mind these can sell for up to £15,000 or more depending on spec etc, which leaves for plenty of scope for improvement. The engine bay will probably look 10x better once given a good clean and the body appears to alright and pretty rust free, though photos can easily be deceiving. The description says that there are dents down both sides and that the bonnet is quite severely bent at the back. The fuel tank is also dented and a few other issues but that’s still easier than a rusty project to start on. Apparently the car has been off the road since 1982 (explains a lot) but is still able to move under its own power, which doesn’t mean it’s road ready, there would still be quite a list to go through. The car is fitted with a 390ci V8 which should provide more than enough grunt for this beauty to glide along nicely. If you’re looking for an American project car and have a small warehouse to store it in, this could be the car for you.
