Auction Spot #51

I do like a car that is a bit of a project, and I like it even more if said car is now an appreciating modern classic like this Mercedes 500 SEC is. The guide of just £2000-£3000 tells me that there has to be a few things wrong with it even though there is no description so no mention of an MOT or its failures (easily googleable). 170k miles isn’t unusual for one of these and as such wouldn’t put me off, though you could expect some pretty big bills when things do go wrong. The photos don’t appear to show much wrong with the car at face value, but anyone who has been to an auction can tell you just how deceiving these photos can be, and that viewing is absolutely essential, even for something that looks to be a complete bargain.
