YouTube #13: AM V8V with Quicksilver exhaust

I think the Aston Martin V8 Vantage sounds pretty great when stock, but this Quicksilver exhaust upgrade sounds pretty fantastic too.

YouTube #12: Velar SVR, Vanquish and others testing at the ‘Ring

Some of the most interesting upcoming cars have been caught testing at the Nurburgring including the Velar SVR (featuring JLR’s phenomenal V8), the new AM Vanquish/DBS, 8-series, Supra and Cullinan.

YouTube #10: Listen to the new Aston Martin Vantage roar.

In this video you get to hear the new Vantage start up, rev and even crackle. Obviously its not like listening to the car in the flesh but it does give you a good idea of just how good it will sound. I had a chance to have a sit in the car when it was touring the AM main dealers and I think it looks pretty incredible.

I came across this video a couple of weeks ago and thought it was pretty incredible, as its not often that you get the chance to see many millions of pounds worth of Aston Martins messing around in a huge warehouse. The ‘warehouse’ in question is the facility that has become AM’s Newport Pagnell factory, before it was fitted out. Give this one a watch (and a listen!) because it is pretty epic.

I was at Brands Hatch on Sunday when this race took place, and was in the pits when it actually happened, and was therefore quite close to see the aftermath that included the doors being cut off, Rod Birley extracted on stretcher and what was left of the car being collected up. I was quite surprised so see so many people trying to photograph him at a point that no one even knew if he was conscious or how seriously injured he was. I was also surprised to see people letting their young children watch what was quite an unpleasant scene, though perhaps they were just shocked to see it so up close. Rod is something of a legend at Brands, with hundreds of race wins to his name in that Escort Cosworth, and hopefully we’ll see him back on track soon.
